The Township of South Stormont Offices will be closed on Monday, September 30th in recognition of The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Please note that there will be NO CHANGES to garbage and/or recycling collection due to the closure.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, or Orange Shirt Day, is a day dedicated to honouring the survivors of residential schools and remembering the children who never came home. On this day, you are encouraged to wear orange to show support and take time to learn about the unique history, languages and cultural practices of Indigenous peoples in Canada.

To learn more about these cultures and the purpose behind The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, please visit the Canadian Heritage National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Page.

Residents and visitors of Cornwall, SDG and Akwesasne are encouraged to participate in the Orange Shirt Day event held in Lamoureux Park in Cornwall on Monday, September 30th from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. This event will include guest speakers, cultural displays, indigenous vendors and artisans and more!
