The Township of South Stormont has partnered with the Township of Russell to provide animal control services in South Stormont.

Under this agreement, animal pound services will be provided at the Township of Russell's modern facilities, where animals will receive safe and humane care until they are reunited with their owners or placed for adoption. Any canines brought to the shelter will be held for up to 72 hours before being considered for adoption.

Process for Lost or Found Dogs

If you lose or find a dog in the Township of South Stormont, please contact the Township Office at 613-534-8889 during regular business hours. Our staff will collect your information and forward it to the Township of Russell.

For after-hours pick-up, please contact the Township of Russell's Public Safety and Enforcement Department at 613-443-3066 ext. 8 if a dog found at large is being safely held by a resident.

Important Note: The Township of Russell will only respond to reports of dogs that have already been captured and are being held for pick-up, or if there is a public safety concern (e.g., aggressive behavior or attacks). For dogs reported at large that have not been contained, South Stormont By-law Enforcement will handle the situation accordingly.
