With the weather warning from Environment Canada and ue to the heavy snow fall we are currently experiencing, the Township of South Stormont is formally declaring a Significant Weather Event, as defined within the O. Reg, 239/02 Minimum Maintenance Standard for Municipal Roads

The intent of this declaration is to notify the public that due to the weather we are experiencing, it will take longer than usual to restore the sidewalks, parking lots and roadways to the conditions normally expected.

During such an event, for your safety, residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel. If you must travel, please maintain a safe distance from snowplows and provide them the space they need to safely clear the snow and ice. To assist with snow clearing operations, residence are asked to park their vehicle in their driveway, well off the road, until street and sidewalk cleaning operations are completed.

Township staff are continuing to clear and treat the sidewalks, parking lots and roadways and will provide notification when this declaration is suspended.
