TAKE NOTICE that the Planning and Building Department of the Township of South Stormont will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025 at 5:00 pm in Council Chambers at 2 Mille Roches Rd., Long Sault, Ontario in order to consider amending its building permit fees and deposits imposed under section 7 of the Building Code Act, 1992. This notice is being provided pursuant to clause 7(6)(a) of the Building Code Act, 1992 and clauses 1.9.1.2.(b) & (c) of Division C of the Ontario Building Code.
PURPOSE AND EFFECT
In an effort to ensure that its building permit fees are consistent with the service that is being provided, the Township of South Stormont has conducted a review of its building permit fees imposed under section 7 of the Building Code Act, 1992. The purpose is to more accurately reflect the various types of construction that occur within the Township, to ensure that the fees accurately reflect the level of service that is being provided and to ensure that the imposition of deposits has the intended effect of closing building permit files. The effect is to amend Schedules “A” and “B” of Building By-law #2023-033. Information will be provided at the meeting with respect to the proposed fee amendments, as well as the rationale for amending the fees and deposits.
ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal representation, either in support of, or in opposition to, the proposed building permit fees and deposits. Any written comments are to be submitted prior to January 13th, 2025, and addressed to the Planning and Building Department, P.O. Box 84, 2 Mille Roches Road, Long Sault, Ontario, K0C 1P0, or via email at building@southstormont.ca.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION will be provided at the meeting respecting the amount of the proposed fees and the rationale for amending and imposing the fees and deposits. Additional information respecting the proposed building permit fees is also available by emailing building@southstormont.ca.
The Township of South Stormont’s Chief Building Official will be available at the meeting to discuss the proposed fee changes, answer questions and receive comments.
