Water and Wastewater Bill Extensions During Pandemic

Published on 23 March 2020

Due to the rapidly changing nature of the COVID 19 Virus the Township of South Stormont hopes the measures outlined below will reduce the burden some residents may experience due to changes in employment or family situation as a result of the Coronavirus situation.

Water and Wastewater Accounts:

The payment for water and wastewater accounts has been extended to 60 days after the billing date and will be indicated on the water and wastewater bills. This is in an effort to allow residents experiencing difficulties due to situations surrounding the COVID-19 virus to pay or arrange for payment of the amount owing.

Residents can expect to receive their water and sewer bills by the week of March 30, 2020.

Residents who pay their water and sewer bills through pre-authorized payments will have their bill payments withdrawn on the due date, 60 days after the billing date on your water and wastewater bill.

Financial Difficulties Options

If you are experiencing financial difficulties and cannot make your water and wastewater payment, you MUST contact the Township at accountsreceivable@southstormont.ca at least THREE DAYS prior to the due date to request alternate payment options.

Requests must indicate the following information:

  1. This is a request to delay the Water and Sewer account payment.
  2. Name of account holder
  3. Address for account
  4. Account number
  5. Indicate how and when account holder proposes payments will be made.
  6. Provide contact information so staff can verify and discuss payment options.

Due to the limitations of timing and the need to support staff to stay healthy, we cannot process delayed payments if all the information listed above is not provided. Thank you very much for your understanding.

Please take advantage of the Township’s online/telephone banking payment method options in an effort to reduce the handling of documents.
