Clarification on Utility Bill Charges

Published on 18 April 2019

Some residents may have noticed a note on their most recent utility bills indicating that the mailing costs for utility bills are approximately $1.50 per bill. It is important to note that this charge has not been applied to any bills at this time.

The Township is investigating ways to reduce costs and improve energy usage and are encouraging residents to register for electronic billing to receive their quarterly utility bills through email. This method would help to reduce costs and present a more convenient billing method to some residents.

On April 24, Council will consider a report to remove the charge from the Fees and Charges By-law and a future Water Rates Study will help to determine appropriate ways to cover costs associated with water and wastewater services.
